How much would you pay for a license plate?

February 17, 2008

Would you pay $14 million for it? Somebody did!

In a charity auction at Abu Dhabi, Saeed Khouri, whose family made its fortune in real estate paid $14 million for a license plate with the number 1 on it yesterday, Feb. 16, 2008.

Khouri said  "I bought it because it’s the best number," and added "I bought it because I want to be the best in the world."  Well, he certainly made it to the news.

So let me ask you once again, if you have the money, would you pay $14 million for a license plate? By the way, proceeds from the auction which was held in a lavish hotel will go to a rehabilitation center for victims of traffic accidents.

Applause for Haringbuang!

February 12, 2008

I’m a big fan of YouTube no doubt.  Everyday, without fail I’d watch a video or two (or more) of the TV shows I’m currently hooked.  And occasionally, I’d stumble on interesting videos mostly funny ones. The video made by YouTube user Haringbuang is one very funny flick which I highly recommend, especially to those who understand Bisaya!

Have a good laugh!

Boracay Island, one of the best beaches in the world by Yahoo! Travel

February 7, 2008

That’s right.  There was no Maldives nor Bali in the Top Ten List of Yahoo’s best beaches in the world, but Boracay Island placed number 7.  I don’t know though if it was at random order or by rank.  Anyway I haven’t been there for many years already and I’ve heard that it’s highly developed and crowded now with plenty of resorts.  But it’s clear blue water, white powdery, sandy beach and the friendly locals never fail to impress tourists and guests to this beaitiful island. If you haven’t yet visited Boracay, you should take time to fly over there and enjoy being in one of the best beaches in the world!

The dancing CPDRC inmates

February 5, 2008

I saw one of their performance last year in YouTube but didn’t give it much care.  Not until today when I found the YouTube channel of Byron Garcia who is the Capitol consultant on security where he uploaded all the performances of the inmates.

Inmates? Yes! The Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) inmates are gaining recognition all over the world for their popular dance numbers.  Instead of wasting their time gambling or causing voilence inside the jail, these inmates have a way to release their energy through dancing which gives them a sense of pride and accomplishment especially that they’re becoming popular lately.  This activity is actually a brilliant idea of Cebu’s governor, Gwen Garcia.  The inmates also performed for special guests on last  month’s celebration of Sinulog which amazed everyone in attendance.

If you want to see the complete videos of the CPDRC inmates, just log in to Youtube.com and type byronfgarcia in the search box.

Here’s a sample video for you to see, the inmates dancing to "Do the hustle":
